Collectively the two books by Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer, individually titled When Worlds Collide and After Worlds Collide tell the story of a mission to save a small fragment of humanity from a planetary threat zooming towards Earth from the depths of space. Written in the 1930s, the books were crafted pretty well, and can be evaluated passably from a modern perspective. It’s a really interesting concept. I would like the film to be remade with today’s sensibilities. In the 50’s film there were 40 passengers?? on the ship and that was the only ship?? With only 40 passengers they would have to have around 35 YOUNG women (who were already pregnant) and 5 men…otherwise the human race would not have much of a chance.

Yep. Even more shortcuts in the movie. But it was enjoyable as well.
