Inside of the on-line circles that I usually travel in, Frank Herbert is regarded as a god. I'm pretty sure that I have mentioned before that the reason I got on line in the first place was because I wanted to find some fellow fans. But as I have broadened my circles a bit I found plenty of fellow SF fans who love Dune but have pretty much ignored everything else that Herbert put out.
