A Canticle for Liebowitz, by Miller, Walter, Jr.
Consistently voted as one of the best books in the entire genre, Walter Miller, Jr's A Canticle for Liebowitz is also one of my favorite books of all time. Every time I read it I rediscover how incredibly well written it is, and how fantastic the story really is. The author, Miller, was never one of our more productive authors.
